MingleMoon and Friends Privacy Policy
Last updated October 2, 2026. Covers both apps, which share one account. Made by HappyDead Designs.
The two apps are kept apart. They share only your Google sign-in, your birth month and year, your
blocks (someone you block in either app is blocked in both) and your cloaks (Cloak mode works in both
apps). Your profile, chats, hangouts, Lounge posts
and gifts in one app are never shown to people in the other app: to see anyone's profile in an app, you
need your own profile in that same app.
MingleMoon helps single adults nearby meet. Friends helps adults near
each other find shared interests, chat and meet up at public hangouts. Both are free to use,
for people 18 and older only. Some parts (the Lounge, Lounge pictures and Discussions in both apps, and gifts
and hearts in MingleMoon) are switched on in stages, and so are cloaking yourself by email and by first name; this page
describes them as they work once they are on.
What we collect and why
| Information | Why | Who can see it |
| Your Google account sign-in (name and email address) | To create your account and keep the apps to real people | Only the administrator |
| Birth month and year | Adults only; your age (not your birth date) is shown on your profile | Your age: people who see your profile. The month and year are saved with your profile in each app, so other members' apps receive them to work out your age; the apps show only your age, never the month or year |
| Profile: first name, photo, about text, interests; MingleMoon also gender, who you'd like to meet, age range, what you're looking for | So people can find others they have things in common with | Signed-in users of that app near you (people with a profile in that app; each app has its own profile) |
| MingleMoon only, optional: up to 19 more profile photos, up to 2 short videos (30 seconds each) and a voice intro (up to 30 seconds) that you record in the app | So people can get to know you before saying yes | Signed-in MingleMoon users who can see your profile |
| Approximate location: your profile's spot is rounded to an area about 3 miles (5 km) across. A Friends hangout stores its public place, to about 1 km | To show people and hangouts near you and a rough distance like "about 5 mi away" (Friends) or "within 10 mi" (MingleMoon) | Only the rough distance is shown (and a hangout's place); your exact location is never stored |
| Likes (MingleMoon) and "say hi" requests (Friends) | Chats open only when both people say yes | Only the two people involved |
| Messages | Chatting with matches, friends and hangout groups | Only the people in that chat |
| Hangouts you post (title, details, public place, time) | So people nearby can join | Signed-in Friends users nearby |
| Optional, in either app: Lounge posts (text, and in some cases one picture or GIF), with your first name. A "Near me" post also stores the map square your profile spot is in (an area about 17 miles across), not your location | A public chat room in each app | Signed-in users of the same app in that room, who also see your profile photo and age next to the post. A picture is shown to others only after the administrator has checked it |
| Optional, in either app: Discussions: topics you suggest (a title and a few lines) and your replies, with your first name | Talking about a topic with everyone in the same app | Signed-in users of the same app, who also see your profile photo and age next to a reply. A topic you suggest shows to others only after the administrator approves it; until then only you see it |
| Which version of each app's rules and Terms of Use you agreed to, and when | So we know what you agreed to (the Lounge needs the current Terms) | Only you and the administrator |
| MingleMoon only, optional: gifts you send (the gift, your first name and an optional short note), who may send you gifts, and whether your gift wall is shown | Gifts are pictures you send people for fun | A gift and its note: you, the person you sent it to and the administrator. Your gift wall shows only how many of each gift you have |
| MingleMoon only, optional: photo contest entries (one of your checked profile photos and your first name) and your votes; the date our server first knew your account | Monthly photo contests (see Photo contests) | An entry: MingleMoon members in the US during that month, and on the Winners screen for a month if you win. Your votes: only you and the administrator |
| MingleMoon only: your hearts balance and history (including the 50 welcome hearts and what you spend hearts on); if you buy hearts, order records (order number, product, hearts, time, country, refund status and a random account number) | To keep your hearts, add the ones you buy, handle refunds and chargebacks, and for tax | Your balance and history: only you and the administrator. Order records: only the administrator |
| Blocks (with the first name you saw, for your "Blocked people" list) and reports | Safety and moderation | Blocks: only you; a block works in both apps, but its name shows only in the app where you blocked them. Reports: only the administrator |
| People you cloaked yourself from (with the first name you saw); if you cloak by email or by first name, a scrambled code made from each address or name, with the distance and ages you picked | So those people can't find your profile | Only you. The person isn't told |
| A scrambled code made from the first name on your profile | So cloaks by first name that other members made can be applied to you | Nobody. Only our server uses it |
| Whether you're taking a break, and until when | To keep your profile out of lists while you're away | It's stored with your profile; the app never shows it |
| Your gender in more words (optional), only if you turn on "Show on my profile" | To show it on your profile | Other members of that app |
| MingleMoon only: the date you last changed your group (woman, man or nonbinary) | So you can change it once every 90 days | Only you and the administrator |
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your information, show ads, or share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Data is stored with Google Firebase (Google LLC), which runs sign-in and the database. MingleMoon profile
photos, videos and voice intros, and Lounge pictures, are stored with Cloudflare R2 (Cloudflare, Inc.),
a service provider that stores those files for us and doesn't use them for anything else; they are kept
private and only signed-in app users can view them. If you buy hearts, Google Play (Google LLC) handles the
payment. We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited
Children (NCMEC), as US law requires. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect
someone's safety.
The Lounge (both apps)
- Each app has its own Lounge, with two rooms: "Near me" (people around you) and "Everyone". Your posts
are public to every signed-in user of that same app in that room; the two apps' Lounges never see each
other's posts. Blocking hides people from
your Lounge, and you from theirs, in the app, but someone with a second account can still read public
posts.
- A post holds your text (up to 500 characters), and, when pictures are switched on, one picture or GIF,
plus your first name. A "Near me" post also stores the map square your profile spot is in, which is
about 17 miles across. It never stores your location.
- Posts are stored with Google Firebase and pictures with Cloudflare R2.
- Every Lounge picture is looked at by the administrator before anyone else can see it. Until then
other people see "Picture waiting for a check". A picture that isn't approved is deleted with its post.
- Before you post a picture, the app checks it on your phone (see
How pictures are checked). Pictures aren't checked again on other people's
phones, and the app never reports anything by itself.
- Posts and pictures are deleted within a few days after they are 30 days old. You can delete your own
post sooner, unless it is under a safety review.
- A post under a safety review is kept until we have reviewed it. That means a post hidden after
reports, a post with an open "Looks under 18" or "This is me / shared without my consent" report, or a
post on legal hold. Evidence on legal hold is kept for 1 year after we report it to NCMEC (longer only
if NCMEC or the police ask), then deleted.
- When a picture is reported as "Looks under 18" or "This is me", or is hidden after reports, a private
copy of it is kept for review for up to 90 days (also if its poster deletes it or their account). Only the administrator can see it.
- When we remove a picture, we keep a one-way fingerprint of it (not the picture) so exact copies can't
be posted again.
- A report about a Lounge post keeps a copy of that post's text and who wrote it, so it can be reviewed
even if the post is deleted.
- No politics in the Lounge: a political post is removed and its writer is banned from the Lounge for good.
A Lounge ban is kept with your account and, as a one-way code made from your Google account's ID (not your
email), so deleting the account and signing up again doesn't end it.
- Your Lounge counters (how many posts, replies, topic suggestions and reports you made today, and when
you joined the Lounge) are kept until 30 days after your last Lounge post, reply, topic suggestion, report
or join.
- Discussions are part of the Lounge in each app: topics everyone in that app can talk about. A topic
you suggest shows only after the administrator approves it. Replies show straight away to every
signed-in user of that app.
- Replies are deleted 90 days after they are posted. A removed topic is deleted, with its replies, 30
days after it was removed. A closed topic stays readable; its replies are deleted 90 days after they
were posted, like any reply.
- A reply with an open "Looks under 18" or "This is me / shared without my consent" report is kept
until we have reviewed it, and you can't delete your own reply while it is under such a report or
hidden after reports. If its writer deletes their account, their replies are deleted with it; a report
about a topic or reply always keeps a copy of its words and who wrote them, so it can still be
reviewed.
- Reports, blocking and Lounge bans work the same way in Discussions: three reports hide a reply until
the administrator looks at it, and a Lounge ban also stops you from suggesting topics and replying.
How pictures are checked
- Every profile photo, profile video and Lounge picture is looked at by the administrator before anyone
else can see it.
- Before a picture or video is sent, the app checks it for nudity on your phone, with a small picture
checker built into the app. The picture never leaves your phone for this check. If it might break the
no-nudity rule, you can pick a different one or ask a person to check it.
- Only the checker's scores (a few numbers) are sent, together with the picture, to the administrator.
They are deleted with the picture's check record. Voice intros aren't checked by the app.
- On the administrator's computer, the same checker sorts waiting pictures so the ones that need a
closer look come first. It never removes, hides, approves or reports anything by itself: a person
decides.
Gifts and hearts (MingleMoon)
Gifts are pictures you can send people in MingleMoon, just for fun. The person you send a gift
to sees your first name, the gift picture and your note (notes are for matches only). A gift wall on a
profile shows only how many of each gift that person has, never who sent them or any prices. You choose who
may send you gifts (anyone, your matches or nobody) and whether your gift wall is shown. Gifts can be
reported like everything else. Gifts, gift walls and your gift choices are stored with Google Firebase.
Gifts cost hearts ($1 = 10 hearts). Hearts are sold only when they are available; until then the app
says "coming soon". When they are on sale, you buy them through Google Play, which handles the payment; we
never see your card. We keep an order record for each purchase (order number, product, hearts, time,
country, refund status and a random account number) for 7 years, for refunds, chargebacks and tax. Your
hearts balance and history are stored with Google Firebase. The hearts terms will be linked here when
hearts go on sale.
New members get 50 welcome hearts once. So they're given only once per Google account, even if you
delete your account and sign up again, we keep a one-way code made from your Google account's ID (not your
email or name) and the date they were given.
If you use the Shop, what you wear (a border, a name color, pets and presents) shows on your profile to
the people who can see your profile. What you own and what you paid are private: only you and our admins
can see them. They're deleted with your account.
Photo contests (MingleMoon)
- Each month MingleMoon has free photo contests for members in the US: Hot Momma, Prettiest and Most
Handsome. Entering and voting are optional. Photo contests are switched on in stages too; their
official rules will be linked here when they start.
- To enter, you pick one of your profile photos that was already checked. Your photo and your first
name are shown to every MingleMoon member in the US during that month, including people who don't see
you in Discover, and, if you win, on the Winners screen and with a Winner badge on your profile for
the next month. People you blocked or who blocked you, and people you cloaked yourself from or who
cloaked themselves from you, don't see it in the app. While you're on a break, nobody else sees it;
votes you already got still count.
- If you enter with your main photo, a copy of it is kept with the entry, so the contest shows the
photo you entered even if you change your main photo later. You can take your photo out at any
time.
- Votes are private. Only the administrator can see who voted for whom, and only to keep the contests
fair. The app never shows how many votes a photo has.
- To vote, your account must be at least 7 days old. For that we keep the date our server first knew
your account.
- Prizes are hearts (see Gifts and hearts). Entries, their photo copies and votes
are deleted 40 to 90 days after each month ends. A record of each prize (the contest, month and place,
the winner's first name and account, and the hearts) is kept for one year.
- Every contest photo can be reported, and the administrator can take any photo out of a contest.
Safety and moderation
Every profile, chat, hangout, Lounge post, Discussions topic and reply, and gift can be reported, and
people can be blocked. Reports
are reviewed, and content or accounts that break our community rules
(such as hate speech or racism, harassment or threats, explicit content, scams, asking for money or gifts,
fake profiles, or anyone under 18) are removed. We don't run background checks: meet
in public, and call 911 if you're ever in danger.
If an intimate image of you was shared in our apps without your consent (including a fake), report it
in the app ("This is me / shared without my consent") or use our
removal request page; you don't need an account. We remove valid requests
within 48 hours.
Cloak mode
- You can cloak yourself (hide your profile) from people you pick, like an ex or a coworker: from their
profile, your chat, or the list of people you've already seen in the app. They won't see you in lists
and can't open your profile. We don't tell them. It works in both apps. It isn't a block: chats stay
open.
- You can't search everyone by name. The list only shows people you've already seen. That keeps
everyone safer.
- You can also cloak yourself by the email address someone uses to sign in with Google. We keep only a
scrambled code made from the address, not the address, and use it only to hide you from that person.
The address itself stays on your phone. We never tell you whether that person uses our apps.
- You can also cloak yourself from everyone with a certain first name, if you like only within a
distance or an age range. We keep only a scrambled code made from the name, with the distance and
ages you picked. The name itself stays on your phone. We never show you who has that name, and never
tell them.
- To apply these, our server makes the same kind of code from the email address you sign in with and
from the first name on your profile. It keeps the code of your first name (so cloaks made later can
be applied), never your address.
- Cloaks work in our apps. Someone with a second account, another email address, another first name, or
a changed copy of the app may still find your profile and tell that you cloaked it from them. Block
and Report are always there.
Taking a break
- You can take a break for a day, three days, a week, or until you come back. While you're on a break,
nobody new can find your profile, and only people you're already talking to can open it. Your chats
keep working and nothing is deleted. When the time is up, your profile shows again on its own. In
MingleMoon your photo contest entries are hidden during your break too.
Your gender
- In MingleMoon, the group you pick (woman, man or nonbinary) decides who can find you, as before. You
can also say more about your gender, like trans woman or two-spirit. In Friends you can pick your
gender if you like. Both are optional. It reaches our server only if you turn on "Show on my profile";
otherwise it stays on your phone. Nobody can filter people by it.
- In MingleMoon you can change your group yourself once every 90 days. Your matches and chats stay.
When you change it, we keep the date on your account, not on your profile, so only you and the
administrator can see it. It tells the app when you can change your group again, and it's deleted
with your account.
Kept on your phone only
These stay on your phone. Our server never gets them, except that an email address or first name you
type to cloak yourself is sent once so our server can make its scrambled code; it keeps only the code.
- the people you passed in Swipe or the list;
- the list of people you've seen (for Cloak mode);
- the email addresses and first names you typed to cloak yourself;
- your gender in more words while it isn't shown;
- whether you have seen the welcome note.
Delete my account clears them on that phone (except passes made in older versions of the app), and
removing the app clears them all. A new phone starts without them.
Child safety
We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. Apparent child sexual abuse material
is removed, kept securely as the law requires, and reported to NCMEC. Our
child safety standards say what we forbid, how to report it and how to
reach our child-safety contact.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest by Google Firebase. Database security rules
limit each piece of information to the people listed above. MingleMoon photos, videos and voice intros, and
Lounge pictures, are encrypted at rest by Cloudflare R2, are not public, and are only handed to signed-in
app users. Review copies of reported pictures and evidence kept for the law are stored apart from
everything else, are never shown in the apps, and only the administrator can reach them.
Deleting your data
In either app: Me → Delete my account. That permanently deletes your account in
both apps: profiles (including your MingleMoon photos, videos and voice intro), likes, requests, every
message you sent, hangouts you host, your Lounge posts and pictures, your Discussions replies and topic
suggestions, gifts you received, your gift wall and gift choices, your hearts and any VIP spot, your Shop
items (borders, name colors, pets and presents), your blocks and reports, your cloaks (the people you cloaked
yourself from, and the email and name codes you added), the code of the first name on your profile, and your
sign-in. Removing a photo,
video or voice intro in Edit profile deletes that file. Without the app, see
how to request deletion. You can also hide yourself from others any
time (Edit profile → "Show me to people nearby").
Rather take a break? In the app, go to Me, then Take a break. Your profile is hidden and nothing is
deleted.
What we keep after you delete your account, and for how long:
- Lounge posts under a safety review (hidden after reports, an open "Looks under 18"
or "This is me" report, or a legal hold): kept until reviewed. Legal-hold evidence: 1 year after it is
reported to NCMEC, longer only if NCMEC or the police ask. Private review copies of reported pictures:
up to 90 days. A one-way fingerprint of removed pictures (not the picture).
- Your reports on other people's Lounge posts: removed within about 30 days (serious
ones when the review is closed). Reports other people made about you belong to them and stay, so they
can be reviewed; a report about a Lounge post keeps a copy of that post's text and who wrote it.
- Topics you started in Discussions stay for the others, without your name ("Started
by a former member"). A report about one of your replies keeps a copy of its words.
- Your Lounge counters (posts, replies, topic suggestions and reports): up to 30 days
after your last Lounge action.
- A Lounge ban (if you were banned from the Lounge): its end date and reason code, and
the same under a one-way code made from your Google account's ID (not your email), are kept until the ban
ends (for good, if it was for politics), so deleting the account and signing up again doesn't end it.
- Hearts (if you ever bought any): order records, kept 7 years for refunds,
chargebacks and tax, with a short closing record (the hearts you had, bought and spent when the account
closed). A closed wallet holding only a zero-or-below balance and VIP cooldown dates, up to 180 days
after deletion (longer if you bought hearts in the last 180 days). If your balance was below zero
because a purchase was refunded, the amount owed is kept for up to 1 year under a one-way code made from
your Google account's ID (not your email), so it comes back if the same Google account signs up
again.
- Welcome hearts: a one-way code made from your Google account's ID (not your email)
and the date the 50 welcome hearts were given, so the same Google account doesn't get them twice.
- Gifts you sent stay with the people you sent them to, shown as from "a deleted
account", without your name or note.
- Photo contests (MingleMoon): your entries, their photo copies and your votes are deleted.
If you won, the record of the prize is kept for one year without your name or account. Votes other
members cast for your photo are theirs: they name only your account's random id, no longer count, and
are deleted with that month's contest data, 40 to 90 days after it ends.
- Blocks: people who blocked you keep their block. It names only your account's random
id, not your name.
- Cloaks: people who cloaked themselves from you keep their cloaks. A cloak from your
profile names only your account's random id, not your name. A cloak by email or first name keeps only
its scrambled code, so it still works if you sign up again with that email or name.
MingleMoon keeps a small note of each profile you open, so a view is counted only once a
day. While you use the app, it clears your older notes once a day when you open Discover. When you
delete your account, the older notes are deleted at once and the rest (today's) within about 6 hours,
by our server's clean-up. Daily gift counters are deleted within 3 days. The hearts clean-up finishes
within about 6 hours after the deletion. The full list is on the
delete your account page.
Adults only
Neither app is for anyone under 18. Accounts that appear to belong to someone under 18 are removed.
